What It’s Really Like to Work with a Professional Home Organiser

Being a professional home organiser is more than just tidying up; it’s about creating spaces that work beautifully for the people who live in them. As someone who’s passionate about helping busy families bring order to their homes, I’ve had the pleasure of working in everything from chaotic kitchens to cluttered bedrooms, transforming them into calm, functional areas.

Based in Knutsford, I work with clients across Cheshire and beyond. I even offer virtual sessions, so no matter where you are, I can help you create the home you’ve always dreamed of. My journey into home organisation was inspired by a love of simplicity and efficiency, and my training with Dilly Carter on the BBC’s *Sort Your Life Out* was pivotal. Over three months, I learned firsthand how to tackle even the most challenging spaces, mastering industry secrets that ensure every project is a success.

So, what can you expect when you book with me? First, we’ll start with a free 15-minute discovery call to discuss your needs. If you’d like to move forward, we’ll schedule a one-hour in-home consultation where we’ll explore your space in detail. The consultation fee of £40 is refundable if you go on to book a full session. Once we’ve discussed your goals, I’ll create a personalised project plan. With a 50% deposit to secure your booking, we’ll set a date for your Transformation Day—the exciting part where your space truly comes to life.

When it comes to services, I offer much more than decluttering. From storage solutions to pre-move staging, unpacking after a move, or downsizing, I tailor each project to your unique needs. My rates start at £40 per hour, and I’m happy to discuss discounts for multi-room projects. Payment is simple and flexible—you’ll receive an invoice after booking and another on the day of the transformation. I accept card payments, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal, so you can choose what works best for you.

Preparing for a session is straightforward. I ask clients to send photos or a short video of the space beforehand, which helps me understand the scope of the project and suggest any optional storage solutions. Don’t worry about tidying up before I arrive; part of my job is seeing the space as it is. On the day, we’ll start at 9:30 am and work systematically, editing items and implementing zones and systems to create a simplified, relaxing home. I’ll always check in with you to make sure the final layout works perfectly, offering tips to help you maintain it going forward.

Feeling overwhelmed during the process is entirely normal, and I’m here to make it as stress-free as possible. Whether we’re tackling sentimental items or making decisions about what stays and what goes, I’ll gently guide you every step of the way. Some clients worry that I’ll push them to get rid of things, but that’s not my approach. You’re always in control of what stays, what gets stored, and what goes—I’m just here to provide perspective and support.

For many clients, clearing out items they no longer need or use is a big relief, but it can raise questions about what to do with donations or recycling. I’ll help with that too. I can take up to a car boot’s worth of donations to local charity shops for no extra cost and provide information about doorstep collection services for larger items.

The length of time required for a session depends on the size and complexity of the space. While some clients see significant results in a half-day session, others find that eight hours is the maximum they can manage in one go. Rest assured, I’ll work efficiently and flexibly to suit your needs, charging only for the time spent working. And if follow-up support is needed, I’m always available for in-person or virtual check-ins.

Working in someone’s home is a privilege, and I take that responsibility seriously. I’m fully insured with Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance, and everything we discuss or work on is completely confidential. You can trust that your home’s transformation is in safe hands.

One question I’m often asked is whether kids can be around during a session. Absolutely! I’m happy to involve them in the process or work around them if needed. As a mum myself, I understand how important it is to create family-friendly systems that work for everyone. And yes, gift vouchers for my services are available—a perfect present for anyone looking to bring order and calm into their life.

At the heart of everything I do is the desire to help you love your home again. If you’ve been thinking about making a change but don’t know where to start, let’s chat. Together, we can create a home that feels calm, functional, and entirely yours.
